Introduction

This summer my very good, groovy and gracious plein air buds and I trekked to central Oregon for some summer painting. We ended up at Smith Rock State Park--renowned for its near perfect, if not perfect Rock Climbing opportunities. We soon found a painters paradise-view of the park--a vista that was more than a jigsaw puzzle to paint. We all fell in love and painted happily for many hours and a couple of days on end.

After the Smith Rock stint, we packed up the van and continued our plein air journey to Oregon's Painted Hills just an afternoon's drive to the east. We'd been there a few years back and wanted to give it another try. A bizarre landscape to paint, to say the least. We painted for an entire day...right up to sundown...with a well deserved 'happy hour' to recoup our energy and enthusiasm-and toast to the trials and tribulations of those crazy enough to haul easel, paints and palettes out-of-doors to make pictures!

Enjoy the pictures--let your imagination fill in the where, why and who's who (hint, I was taking the photos...so you'll see me only in a scant few).
