GESTURE DRAWING: Make Figure Drawings that Engage the Whole Self
Workshop Fee: $245 / 10am-5pm each day
Youngstown Cultural Arts Center in West Seattle
This is a different kind of Gesture drawing class. In this workshop, you'll aim to draw while engaging all your senses: your sense of touch, sound, sight, and your sense of balance. You will also draw quickly, boldly, and intuitively from the live model.
Fugate will lead you through a course of exercises designed to expand the kind of marks you make and to unleash your imagination to discover new ways of making figure drawings.
This workshop is a great way to break habits and discover new ways to draw. Materials include charcoal, drawing ink & soft pastel.
All Levels Welcomed.

IMPRESSIONIST STILL LIFE PAINTING: Bold Color, Active Brush Work & Inventive Composition
Workshop Fee: $245
10am-5pm each day
Youngstown Cultural Arts Center in West Seattle
In celebration of the current exhibition at our downtown art museum, this workshop is a practice of what Impressionist painters are best known for: bold color choices, inventive and expressive brush work, as well as modern compositional design.
Make still life paintings in the manner of namely Cezanne, Van Gogh and Berthe Morisot. Expand your thoughts on color, use active and gestural brush strokes, and try new ways to compose a still life painting.
Cezanne and the Impressionists were brave painters. They sought for new ways to "See" as an artist and to be as relevant to their world as possible. They took risks and questioned conventions. Consider this weekend workshop as an opportunity to do the same.
Some painting experience recommended. Oil or Acrylic paint.
