More Faces in my Family of Faces, with three more to go

My FAMILY OF FACES project is nearing it's completion!  Only three more to go...tomorrow.  After that I'll be rearranging my studio in preparation to exhibit my expansive family of portraits!  I'm amazed myself at the number I've made this month.  I started on November 3rd, and to date I've made fifty-six portrait drawings.

All 16x20" on either white or ivory colored Fabriano paper and drawn with sepia colored chalk and watercolor washes.  The actual sitting/drawing time has been approximately 30 minutes, the entire studio visit is around one hour.  For me, the whole month of November has been an exploration not just of portraits, but the act of drawing itself...from life.  It's been a wonderful, great, exciting, challenging, thrilling, and surprising journey.  Many thanks to each of my "family members"--you've made this possible.

Remember, this project will be exhibited soon on December 5 & 6 in my studio (#408).  The entire building will be full of artwork--paintings, drawings, installations, collaborations, spoken word, music, and more.  Go to Youngstown Cultural Arts Center / Cooper Artist Housing located at 4408 Delridge Way SW, Seattle WA.  Hours are:  DEC. 5th, 6-11 PM; DEC. 6th, Noon-5 PM.

And my Family of Faces continues to thoroughly occupy my thoughts, my time, my days (everyday!).  And I'm loving it.

FAMILY of FACES, continues!

Every day I draw people.  I hear great stories from them, laugh and discuss ideas and experiences, and then draw...how'd I get so lucky?

Family of Faces Project--Four More

The evolution of these portraits I'm making for my project, Family of Faces, is facinating.  I'm reminded of how important those spaces are in between things.  Where things are better said (drawn) by not saying them directly and leaving spaces open to breathe, move, imagine is much more true.

FAMILY of FACES Project: Ongoing

FAMILY of FACES is a project I am currently making to exhibit on December 5th and 6th (in a few weeks!). 

This project is a collection of 16 X 20" portrait drawings to be displayed all together--as in a grid pattern--celebrating our collective vitality, beauty and spirit.  There's so much to be learned, enjoyed and admired in each of our faces.  How exciting to see so many of them all together at once.  We'll be able to recognize our similarities and differences not just in our physical structure, but energetically too.  I'm thrilled at the response I've had so far--after putting out a call for sitters at a nominal fee to purchase their portrait, my calendar is filling up nicely each day before Thanksgiving.  I love the energy it's bringing to my studio and hearing so many of our stories too.  Thank you so very much to all my "family of faces" that have already had their portrait drawn and to all the others yet to arrive.  I can't wait to draw you!
