10 AM – 5 PM (includes a one hour lunch break)
Location: Youngstown Cultural Arts Center in West Seattle
Pull out all the stops in this Expressive Figure Drawing workshop. Using a multitude of media (including pastel, charcoal, colored ink wash, and collage) we will make drawings from the figure that utilizes color, texture, and contrast to build a harmonious composition. In this workshop we will make extended studies allowing time to layer materials and create a visual balance. Shorter gesture studies will also be made to explore ways of making marks that best express how the figure exists in space. Overall, this workshop is about Composition—that is, developing ways to “fix” a drawing’s visual balance by way of Contrast. Previous drawing experience is recommended.
