So I headed out in search of what the Adirondacks might look like and possibly do a sketch or two. Lesson learned, bring an UPDATED hiking trails book. The hike my hiking buddy, Sally, and I set out to do seems to have disappeared into the dense woods. We walked up and down to road in search of the trailhead...alas, we jumped back into the car and backtracked to an actual trail marker we saw on the way. We finally made our way up a trail that lead to a placid lake surrounded by trees and blooming trilliam. Someone had recently had a fire on some rocks right on the water...there were charcoal bits in a neat pile awaiting our arrival. Without hesitation, Sally and I went to work on the rocks with our own 2005 petroglyphs in charcoal. I did manage to make one small sketch in my sketchbook which you can see here....along with our "rock-art". I look forward to another hike in the famed Adirondacks...with the latest edition of hiking trails!
