Seattle Psychoanalytic Society and Institute Presents the Second in a Series
Psychoanalytic Perspectives on Visual Art
Artist: Barbara Fugate
Discussant: Sue Radant, PdD.
"If Fine Art is to be a direct and relevant experience of life, I remain committed to working directly from life in order to find it. My artwork is figurative and as much about the sitter as it is about my thoughts, feelings and actions. I have been inspired the Baroque ideas of time, space and making pictures that enter into the psychic space of the viewer. Greco-Roman myths crossing paths with Christian iconography has also acted as a spring board for my figure compositions. Above all, the act of expressing myself visually requires my full participation (mind, body, spirit, and heart) in order to discover how things are rather than what they are." Barbara Fugate
